Ascorbic acid, or vitamin C, is one of the most important water soluble vitamins. It is essential for collagen, carnitine and neurotransmitters biosynthesis. Most plants and animals synthesize ascorbic acid for their own requirement. However, apes and humans cannot synthesize ascorbic acid due to lack of an enzyme named gulonolactone oxidase. For this reason, we need to ensure that our diets and beauty products are packed with vitamin C.
Vitamin C is an antioxidant, meaning it protects skin cells from damaging free radicals caused by UV exposure. It also inhibits melanin production in the skin, which helps to lighten hyperpigmentation and brown spots, even out skin tone, and enhance skin radiance.
Vitamin C in water-based products has a short life-span of 10-14 days. Keeping it in dry powder form guarantees that one receives the optimum benefits with every use, minus the use of harmful additives and preservatives.
DIRECTIONS FOR USE
1. After cleansing and toning one's face, take a drop (15%-20%) and mix with a teaspoon of water.
2. Spread evenly onto your face and neck before applying sunscreen.
3. Use in the AM for optimum results.
One will notice that the powder mixture is likely to liquify a water-based lotion or cream. L-Ascorbic powder is insoluble with oils.
